Zion A Happy Home Foundation
The New Bell Central Prison founded in 1902 in Douala is the main prison in Cameroon's economic capital and Littoral Region. It is a mixed prison, however, the quarters for men, women and children are separated. This facility harbours over 4000 detainees. The month of February was dedicated to the feeding of prisoners in Douala. The 27th of February 2022 happened to be the last Sunday of the month and as our adopted culture was the day for the feeding of prisoners to be carried out. A team headed by the founder of Zion A Happy Home Foundation made it to the New Bell Central Prison with cooked food in packs, drinks, fruits and toiletries to be distributed to 100 detainees for a start as a way of familiarizing with them, reminding them that they are not forgotten, reassuring them they still have a place in the society despite being detained and promising them we shall work in synergy to see how we can fully empower them so that they get re-integrated into the society and live much better and responsible lives when they leave prison.
However, we regret to inform you that because it is a law at the prison that visitors do not take pictures with inmates, we had to obey. So, attached are a few pictures of the successful event.
