Douala is the largest city in Cameroon and home to nearly 20 per cent of the country’s population of about 26 million. It is equally the economic capital of the nation. A good segment of this population constitutes the mentally unsound and physically disabled. Two common problems faced by these marginalized categories of persons are the feeling of being ignored and excluded. As this year was chosen as a year for meaningful life transformation for the underprivileged, our novel five-phased project - The Feeding of street children, street adults, the mentally unstable, physically disabled, prisoners, orphans and the aged, sets out to eliminate these common problems faced by the disabled, by inclusively empowering them with equal access to opportunities and life skills that will make them become more functional and integrated into the society.
